Museum Monday - LACMA

It has been too long since my last visit to LACMA, so I was excited for my return visit to view Scandinavian Design and the United States, 1890–1980 which runs through Feb. 5, 2023.

The exhibition focuses on the immigrant designers and craftspeople from Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Iceland who played an enormous role in shaping American design.

LACMA’s Bobbye Tigerman cocurated the exhibit with Monica Obniski of the Milwaukee Art Museum. The colorful exhibition was designed by Los Angeles architect Barbara Bestor.

Below, some of my favorites from the exhibit:

Furniture vignette with desk and floor lamp by Greta Magnusson Grossman (born Sweden, 1906-1999, active United States and wall lamp by Greta Von Nessen.

Textiles: fabric design, rugs and sample tapestry weaving.
