Santa Barbara Once Again

The beauty and gift of visiting a place time and again is you get to observe it across seasons.

Late April, the middle of spring, that time of year when the wisteria is in bloom in Southern California. I thought I was just paying attention at the tail end of the bloom, and probably so. Still, I found this small business/medical complex in Santa Barbara, across from the bird sanctuary, where the wisteria stunningly takes my breath away.

Just across the way from the wisteria bloom, I stopped at the cemetery for a closer look, thinking perhaps I might enter a chapel. Of course it’s open, for people to visit and pay their respects. The sanctuary reminds me a lot of a recent visit to Chapel of the Chimes with my son in Oakland. I learn later the design was indeed inspired by the Chaoel of the Chimes!
