Museum Monday - Diane Von Furstenberg - Women Before Fashion at Skirball
There was a fun fashion exhibit outing with a new friend. I suggested we visit the Skirball Cultural Center as I hadn’t been for awhile and I had on my list to see Diane Von Furstenberg - Women Before Fashion. It was a winning suggestion when my friend let me know that she was very much into fashion.
We each posed at the photo wall.
Then took a walk through wraparound dress history.
The US debut exhibition coincides with the 50th anniversary of Diane von Furstenberg’s iconic wrap dress. It includes a selection of over sixty pieces drawn from the DVF archives along with ephemera, fabric swatches, media pieces, and information on her philanthropic work.
I loved seeing the fabric swatches and Vogue patterns. Back in the day, if you were so inclined, you could sew your own wrap dress!
I didn’t take many photos at the exhibit but it’s a winner and runs through August 31st. I suggest going with a girlfriend and wearing a classic DVF dress if you have one.
