Architecture Moment in Glendale - Two Modern Banks

There was another serendipitous architecture photography capture while out running errands in Glendale - this time, two modern banks several blocks apart.

First up, Bank of the West located on the corner of E. Lexington Drive and N. Glendale Avenue. The building’s mid-century styling caught my eye, but I could not easily determine the architect who designed it.

Chase Bank, Glendale presents dramatically just several blocks north at the corner of Glendale Avenue and E. Doran Street. The New Formalist style bank was designed by Ladd & Kelsey and built in 1964. Other noted works by the architects are the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena and the First Methodist Church in La Verne, CA.
If you happen to visit, step under the dramatic overhang of the flat roof and look up to take in the raised grid pattern.
A nice write up on Chase Bank, Glendale can be found LA Conservancy website at this LINK.
