Natural Mid-Century Color Palette

Spotted on a run last week in the Linda Vista neighborhood of Pasadena, north of the Rose Bowl - 3 mid-century homes sharing a soothing color palette in shades of gray, green and yellow. The homes blend nicely into the tree-rich landscape.

A minimal landscape with shrubs and some cactus, this home would be at home in the high desert, too! The decorative wood detailing on the street facing side and the second level balcony add to the curb appeal.

As I ran uphill on Purney Road, the generous front balcony of this mid-century house appeared like the bow of a ship. The simple green and white palette is the perfect choice for the house to blend into the surrounding trees.

Iā€™m drawn to Japanese design in architecture and Japanese style landscape plantings, especially the use of bamboo. This house had both!
