Everyday Life - Conversation Starters
The Trader Joe mini totes are perfect for everyday use, sturdy and easy to wrap around my wrist, as I jog around town on mini errands. Today I went to Walgreens and the clerk who rang me up recognized the totes, as she and her mom have matching colored ones.
It’s like we are members of a club because in order to get these totes, you had to plan ahead and likely wait in line for these high-in-demand canvas bags.
I learned about the Easter-hued tires from a yogi friend who planned to use the totes as Easter “baskets” for her kids.
She gave me the scoop that there were twice a day deliveries and sales, dedicated wait lines for totes, and when to show up to ensure success before the supply ran out.
This was the first time I have ever waited in line to buy something high in demand, a demand created by social media. Still, since I live within walking distance of a Traders Joe’s and my time is my own, I was game to try.
I mentioned to my sis in Hawaii that I scored a set of the totes and let her know people were re-selling on eBay for way more than the $4 a bag I paid. I said I would keep 2 for J and I and offer my son and daughter first dibs on the other 2. She said that if they declined, then she wouldn’t mind having one.
In the end I decided to return another afternoon for a chance at getting 4 more. This time, I had to wait less than a minute before I was waved in to make my purchase. And I sent all 4 to Hawaii as gifts for my sisters and a couple nieces.
So, if you happen to see someone with one of these totes, feel free to strike up a conversation.
