A couple years ago, I felt an urgency to visit Cal Poly Pomona campus before an iconic building on campus was demolished.

There was another building I specifically wanted to see too, a late mid-century designed by Carl Maston.

So, two that I had on the must see list and anything interesting above and beyond would be a bonus. That’s how a field trip is planned.

2024 was quite the year of Millard Sheets mural spotting, mostly in SoCal where I live. This post is a recap of the murals seen in 2024 (9 total). Most are located at former Home Savings and Loan bank buildings. Others can be seen at a museum, library and on a college campus.

Museum Monday - American Museum of Ceramic Art

There was a recent weekend visit to the American Museum of Ceramic Art (AMOCA) in Pomona, CA to view the exhibit “Architectural Pottery: Ceramics for a Modern Landscape” which runs through March 2, 2025. It was my first time at the museum and not only did I enjoy the pottery exhibit, but there were a couple of surprise Millard Sheets artwork there as well!
